Location: BOLIVIA

Client: VICE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT

Development: 2013-2015

Project description:

The Bolivian railway system currently consists of the Andean Network and the Eastern Network, which are separated due to a lack of infrastructure in the central part of the country, which prevents continuous traffic through this modality, deficiency that cannot be solved by road transport.

The Central Bioceanic Railway Corridor (CBRC) is a mega project that aims to link the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, linking three South American countries, Peru, Brazil and Bolivia, with an extension of 1,894 km in Bolivian territory. The route of the rail infrastructure in the CBRC has been defined in line with the strategic, market and environmental studies in order to enhance the value of existing rail infrastructure and services, create a rail infrastructure that optimizes the operation of future traffic and limits the social and environmental impacts of the project, while at the same time minimizing investment, operation and maintenance costs.
