Narrative description of the project
This is the new Maritime Action Ship for Underwater Intervention (BAM-IS), which will represent a revolution in submarine rescue for the Navy and will be the most modern and innovative vessel ever built in Spain. Although its main task will be the salvage and rescue of submarines, the BAM-IS will also be of great use to military divers to carry out underwater intervention operations. The ship will also be prepared to detect explosive devices.
The new BAM-IS will also be in charge of protecting Spain’s underwater heritage through two underwater robots with an integrated camera. Thus, the vessel includes a side scan sonar, two underwater telephones and two hyperbaric chambers. It also has its own heliport.
