Narrative description of the project

Two new Coastal Hydrographic Vessels (BHCs) for the Spanish Navy will modernize the fleet and enhance maritime data collection capabilities. These vessels will replace the aging Antares, a hydrographic vessel from the 1970s. Their primary missions will include hydrographic surveys, conducting detailed studies of the water column and seabed to support the creation and maintenance of official nautical charts for Spanish waters and coasts; environmental and meteorological support, providing the fleet with essential geographic, environmental, and meteorological information; and protection of underwater archaeological heritage, assisting in the preservation and monitoring of submerged cultural resources.
