Narrative description of the project
The Strategic Surface Platform (PES) project is one of the most interesting for the naval defense industry due to its scope and impact in economic, technological, and defense terms. The acquisition of the PES frigates is part of the Navy's "Force Planning 2030" plan, which aims to strengthen the institution's control over the Colombian coast by establishing an integrated coastal surveillance radar system. The new frigates (8) will replace the current FS 1500 Almirante Padilla-class ships, which are scheduled for retirement in 2024/2025.
