SUPERVISION OF THE LATHE BRIDGE – MIRRORS

Location: El Torno – Santa Cruz – Bolivia

Client:  Bolivian Highway Administrator ABC

Development: 2018-2021

Description of the project:

The vehicular bridge over the Piraí River, called El Torno – Espejos, consists of a bridge built using the successive cantilever technique, consisting of a hyperstatic structure with a total length of 230 m, divided into three sections. The extreme spans are 65 m long, while the central span is 100 m long.

The geometry of the cross section considers two 1 m wide sidewalks at both ends and a roadway, for vehicular flow is 7.30 m wide, divided into two lanes of 3.65 m each.

For the El Torno bridge, a structure built in successive cantilevers is the most appropriate way to bridge the riverbed over the river’s banks. The reasons for this are explained below.
