Narrative description of the project:

The future F110 frigates are one of the Navy’s star programs pending modernization over the next few years. They will be in charge of replacing the current F80 of the Santa María class, a group of ships whose first unit entered service in 1986 and which are gradually reaching the end of their operational life, which would be around 2025, after the modernization they received in the beginning of the 2000s. Five units are to be built, with an estimated program value of 4.3 billion euros. Construction is scheduled to start in February 2022 at Navantia’s shipyard in Ferrol.
