Narrative description of the project:

The PES Project or Strategic Surface Platform is one of the most interesting for the naval defense industry due to its scope and impact in economic, technological and defense terms. The acquisition of the PES is part of the Navy’s «Force Planning 2030» plan, which aims to strengthen the institution’s control over Colombia’s coasts by establishing an integrated coastal surveillance radar system. The new frigates (8) will replace the Navy’s existing FS 1500 Almirante Padilla class ships, which are scheduled for retirement in 2024/2025.
