Narrative description of the project:

This program is aimed at replacing the current fleet of U.S. Coast Guard icebreakers (USCGC). The new fleet of icebreakers will enable the USCGC to conduct missions in the Arctic such as operations to defend and safeguard the sovereignty and interests of the United States, homeland security and maritime security activities, surveillance of ports, waterways and coastal security, research, search, rescue and logistical support or ship escort.

GHENOVA scope of work:

Functional and detailed design of Electrical, Control and Communications Systems.

  • Development and analysis of Load Balancing, Short Circuit Calculation, Grid Quality, Power Plant Management Philosophy, High Voltage, etc.
  • Integration of the main wiring in the vessel.
  • Integration of Auxiliary Systems on the ship’s platform.
  • Design and detailing of the ship’s lighting system.
  • 3D Model integration analysis.

Functional and detailed design of structures.

  • Review and update of calculations and staking plans made by third party companies.
  • Follow-up of actions indicated by the Classification Society.
  • Design of pylons: Preparation of supporting calculations and drawings.
  • Design and structural calculation of the ship’s mast.
