Narrative description of the project
The combat corvette Avante 2200 has been built by Navantia. The vessel is mainly used for surveillance and protection of exclusive economic zones (EEZ). It is also suitable for anti-surface warfare (ASuW), electronic warfare, maritime protection, intelligence gathering, search and rescue (SAR), humanitarian aid and marine pollution control, as well as combating smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
Construction of the corvettes began at the San Fernando shipyard in January 2019 and deliveries are expected to be completed in 2024.
