ALGAE Pilot plant

Neste’s algae pilot plant aims to validate the cultivation of algae in open ponds and the harvesting, drying and pelletization of algae biomass in Spain. The algae cultivation area (ponds) is 8 hectares and algae biomass production is approximately 210 tons per year. The main stages of the pilot process are Algae culture, consisting of algae growth and stress phases. Conditioning and harvesting of algae Dehydration and desalination of algae biomass Drying and pelletizing of algae biomass Polishing of water for reuse and return to the sea of part of the polished water by rehydration. The project consists of two aerial parts: ● Option 1: Process Area: includes the full scope of work for the definition phase, as described in this document and in the appendices ● Option 2: Pond area and site preparation works: Including full engineering for the Definition phase and Detailed engineering for contracting as described in this document and appendices.
