Narrative description of the project

A new waste-to-energy combined heat and power plant will prevent 216,000 tons of household and commercial waste from ending up in landfill each year. Instead, the waste will be used to generate 21 MW of electricity at the Earls Gate Energy Centre in Grangemouth, Scotland. The facility will replace a gas-fired power plant and will also provide heat and power to four local industries in an adjacent business park, including chemical manufacturer and utility provider CalaChem.
