Narrative description of the project
These will be in charge of replacing the current F80s of the Santa Maria class, a group of vessels whose first unit entered service in 1986 and which are gradually reaching the end of their operational life, which would be around 2025, after the modernization they received in the early 2000s. Five units will be built with an estimated program value of €4.3 billion. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2022 at the Navantia shipyard in Ferrol.
