Narrative description of the project

The trailing suction dredge MINERVA (TSHD), built by Royal IHC for DEME, is the world’s first LNG-powered TSHD. The MINERVA dredge incorporates a hydrodynamic hull design powered by a dual-fuel propulsion system. Its innovative design allows the vessel to carry out maintenance dredging missions in shallow waters for extended periods of time. The new generation trailing suction hopper dredge meets the requirements of the extended drydocking system, extending the maximum drydocking interval from five to 7.5 years. Some of the strandings are replaced by in-water inspections. The vessel has received the “Green Passport” and “Clean Design” awards and meets stringent international emissions standards.
