Narrative description of the project
The PES or Strategic Surface Platform Project is one of the most interesting for the naval defense industry due to its scope and impact in economic, technological and defense terms. The acquisition of the ESPs is part of the Navy’s “Force Planning 2030” plan, which aims to strengthen the institution’s control over the Colombian coasts through the establishment of an integrated coastal surveillance radar system. The new frigates (8) will replace the current FS 1500 Almirante Padilla class ships, which are scheduled for retirement in 2024/2025.
