Narrative description of the project
Belgrade’s Vinča waste-to-energy (WtE) project in Belgrade will provide the Serbian capital’s 1.7 million inhabitants with a modern waste management system. The cogeneration plant will have an installed capacity of 56 MWth and 25 MWe to treat 340,000 tons of municipal waste per year, which is equivalent to about 66% of the total municipal waste generated in Belgrade. There is a heat purchase agreement with Beoelektrane and a power purchase agreement with EPS Snabdevanje.
The new landfill will comply with EU standards and will be equipped with modern waste management and treatment technology. The replacement of the existing landfill will also address a major environmental and health risk, namely the pollution of the nearby Danube River.
