The Maritime Action Ship for Underwater Intervention (BAM-IS) represents a revolution in submarine rescue for the Navy, being the most modern and innovative vessel built in Spain to date.

The new vessels will replace the Santa Maria class F80s, commissioned in 1986 and reaching their operational life in 2025 after modernizations. The program, estimated at 4.3 billion euros, will build five units starting in February 2022 at Navantia’s shipyard in Ferrol.
