- The inauguration ceremony of these recently refurbished offices was presided over by the DIGAM, the Secretary General for Industry of the Xunta de Galicia and the Mayor of Ferrol.
Ferrol, 2 February 2023. Ghenova has held the official opening ceremony of the recently refurbished offices of its Ferrol headquarters, the second largest in terms of number of professionals after the group’s headquarters in Seville.
The event, which was presided over by the Director General of Armaments and Material (DIGAM), Admiral Aniceto Rosique Nieto, was attended by the Secretary General of Industry of the Xunta, Paula Uría, and the Mayor of Ferrol, Ángel Mato, as well as other authorities and representatives of the business sector who had the opportunity to see the new facilities.
During the ceremony, the president of Ghenova, Carlos Alejo, stressed that «the growth of this headquarters is no coincidence, it has been almost 20 years since we started this journey and we have seen how this office has become the second most important of the group with more than 170 people».
Along the same lines, the CEO of Ghenova, Francisco Cuervas, emphasised that «we have made a very strong commitment to Ferrol since 2003, where we have always had a great pool of professionals of the highest level» and added that «this change of facilities is a step that responds to the needs of an expanding company. There are many challenges ahead of us and it is our responsibility to face them in the best possible way».
In the same way, the Director of Ghenova, Raúl Arévalo, who led the event, wanted to «thank all the people who have made this office grow, we have great challenges ahead, such as cybersecurity and marine renewables».
Currently, from this headquarters located in Avenida de Esteiro in Ferrol, work is being carried out on projects of high technological complexity, such as the F110 series of frigates launched by the Ministry of Defence through the Directorate General of Armaments and Material (DGAM), which will be built by Navantia.
In this sense, the DIGAM, Admiral Rosique Nieto has assured that «today is an important day for the defence and for Ferrol, which represents the symbiosis that has always existed in Spain between engineering and the naval sector» and has highlighted that «the establishment of Ghenova in Ferrol is the result of an innovative climate».
On the other hand, the general secretary of industry of the Xunta de Galicia, Paula Uría, has given «congratulations to Ghenova for the clear bet for Ferrol» besides emphasizing that «in Galicia we have been working on the naval strategy for a long time». Along the same lines, the Mayor of Ferrol, Ángel Mato, pointed out that «there is a very promising future ahead. The F110 frigates will be a magnificent display of how in Spain we know how to do things very well».
Likewise, during the ceremony, Agustín Álvarez, Director of Navantia Shipbuilding, emphasised: «I have had the privilege of seeing how it has grown, I have witnessed its international expansion and today it is one of Navantia’s main collaborators».
In addition, Ghenova has recently incorporated two new managers to lead the areas of cybersecurity and marine renewables whose operations will be based in Ferrol.
